Dance Umbrella was founded in 1977 in Austin as a non-profit organization to promote and encourage the knowledge, appreciation, practice and performance of dance. Dance Umbrella presents innovative contemporary dance makers from around the world in its DISCOVER DANCE series to engage both the young and old in programs that express the diversity of the human experience and bring the power, culture and history of dance to the Austin community.
This project is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art, the Texas Commission on the Arts, the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division, and private contributions.
